Van Beck Hall

DR. VAN BECK HALL, Ph.D., 88, born in Charleston, W. Va., passed away on the morning of Friday, August 11, 2023, in Pittsburgh, PA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Oakland. Dr. Hall was a teacher of American history at the University of Pittsburgh for 51 years and twice chairman of their history department. Before that, he was a captain in the US Air Force, where he met his future wife. His book "Politics Without Parties" was published in 1972. From 2003 onward he was chairman of the board of trustees of First Baptist Church. Dr. Hall is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Paula Hall, and his children William Blake Hall and Elizabeth Ann Hall.
