My research interests include Sino-Southeast Asian relations, the history of travel, historical geography, spatial history, digital humanities, world history and Song-Yuan China. Before joining the University of Pittsburgh in Fall 2024, I received my Bachelor of Management in Tourism Management and Bachelor of Arts in English (2021) from Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and my MSc in Tourism Management (2024) from Beijing International Studies University. For my master’s thesis, I analyzed 30 representative travel writings from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty (77-1911 A.D.), applying place-name extraction, standard deviation ellipse analysis, social network analysis, and text content analysis. This research analyzed the nodes, routes, regional networks, content and mechanisms of cultural dissemination along the Maritime Silk Road (South China Sea Section) in the historical period. At Pitt, I aim to further explore the disciplinary studies by integrating digital methods into historical research, with a focus on the maritime networks around the China Seas during the Song-Yuan period.
